Multiclass and teacher connect?

We  used CC last year, and it was great.  This year our school is having issues using multi-class even thought we have a school license. We did a test run, and the student created a character in one class, when I tried to add him to my class, it say he has to create his character again.  It wasn't like that last year, so I'm worried we have done something wrong.  We really want to roll this out next week for our students since they earn rewards based off of this.  Do you have suggestions about where things have gone wrong?

Hello Marybeth,

Thank you for taking the time to share this question with our forums. I'm sorry to hear that you are having trouble adding students to a class. We can certainly help you out with that!

If you have a student that already has an account, Classcraft character, and is already in one of the classes of a teacher at your school, you should be able to import him or her to your class by heading over to "Configure Class" (the gear icon at the bottom of the left sidebar), and then clicking on the green "Add students" button. Then, by searching for the student by name or email address, you should be able to select her or him and then click on the green "Add students" button, to add the student.

Could you please try adding the student this way and let me know if that works?

Since you have a School-wide license, I just wanted to let you know that the point person to help you with situations like these would be the Classcraft partnership manager for your school, Gordon Bergevin. In this case, it seems to be a technical issue, and so the best way to find help as soon as possible would be to send an email to support@classcraft.com.

I tried what you suggested, but after he was added, it states that the character still needs to be set up.  I'll try to email support, but I'm not sure if someone else from my school has done that path yet or not. I would hate to create 2 tickets for the issue.

Hi Marybeth,

Thank you again for taking the time to read and share. Please don't hesitate to reach out to support at any time, and as much as needed! We are always more than happy to answer any and every single question or concern you might have.

In this case, it seems as though this student has not yet created their character. Once the character is created in at least one Classcraft class, that same character will be available across all of his or her Classcraft classes.

I see that you have already submitted a support ticket for this situation and that my colleague Martina is currently helping out.

Finally, I just wanted to assure you that you are in great hands! Martina is awesome!

I am sure we will get you up and running in no time! :)

Do you need to have a school license in order to use the teacher connect option? I teach on a team of 4 teachers, and we are all going to use Classcraft next year, but our school does not have a license. Is there any possible way to still share students among the 4 of us?

Hi Erin,

Our Teacher Connect feature is available on both free accounts and Premium accounts! We want everyone to be able to play with their students, regardless of whether they have a school license or not :)

Hi Nicholas,

I just wanted to clarify before purchasing the premium account. In this community discussion this was stated:
"Our Teacher Connect feature is available on both free accounts and Premium accounts! We want everyone to be able to play with their students, regardless of whether they have a school license or not :)"

But, I read a post from last year that states this feature has been phased out?? Is that true, will this feature ever be available again for premium account holders?? If, so why or why not??

Hi Alexis,

The multi-class and teacher-connect features (the ability for students to use the same avatar with multiple teachers) are now only available under a school-wide license. If you believe that a school license is something your school could benefit from, fill in this form and we will get in touch as soon as possible to explore different options: https://www.classcraft.com/districts/#modal-district-form-1

For single license teachers (Free and Premium users), students now need one account for each class they participate in. This means a student will have different logins for different classes.

The current rule for single license teachers is 1 class = 1 new student account

We decided to remove the Teacher-connect feature as it was a complicated system that caused many problems on the technical side.

Do not hesitate to reach out to support@classcraft.com if you need assistance with setting up your classes, it will be a pleasure to help!
