[Solved] Problem with Google Classroom assignment importing

I am having an issue with the integration of Google Classroom assignments. When I go to add an assignment to award points over from Google Classroom I have encountered several issues that have left me reluctant to utilize the feature. One of the most frustrating things I've encountered is the sheer list of assignments to choose from. It grabs every single assignment I've ever done for any class, even my archived classes from two years ago. When I do locate the assignment I wish to import, I have multiple classes of the same section I teach. How I've set them up in Google Classroom (using the section number for each period) has resulted in a guessing game of which one to select. My final frustration is a bewilderment into why some students have the assignment grade populated but others do not, even though they are all assigned a grade in Google Classroom. Is there a fix in the works for this, or am I doing something wrong that I could correct?

Hi Christopher,

Thanks for letting us know about this problem. Our team is currently investigating — we'll be in touch when we know more.

Chris - I'm in the same boat. Changing the class name in Google Classroom was a good workaround for the moment to eliminate some of the guess work. Hopefully they can arrange things by due date.

Just starting with Google Classroom this year, but I'm glad I caught this thread to prep myself if I plan to use it for assignments.

We're deploying some fixes tonight that should help!

I am still having a problem where my classroom marks are not updating....  I would really like to use this fun feature but only half of the students have marks :(

Random thought: Are you sure students have used "turn it in"? If they haven't, it might not show up. I don't know if you have to have it graded first either.

Hi Jeff,

Can you check if the students for whom marks won't appear have linked their accounts to Google in their profile?

Thanks!

I think that you must use the "Return" function in Classroom for the grades to show up in Classcraft. The problem I am having is that even though the assignments for some were late, it is not marking them late in Classcraft, thereby, making the timely hand-in reward a problem. Any thoughts?

Hi Eric,

I'll create a ticket for you. :-)

Has there been a fix or workaround for this issue yet. I still am unable to import student grades from google classroom. It seems to only import one or two of my students making this function unusable.

Hi Mike,

It seems a good number of your students haven't linked their Classcraft account to Google. This should explain why you're not able to import their grades.

Could you please ask them to link their accounts to Google in their profile? I've attached a screenshot below so it's clearer.

If the problem persists, please let us know!

I've been having an issue today with being unable to read the assignments that are being uploaded as Google Docs. The students are submitting the assignments the way they should but when I try to open the document it is downloading as a Word doc with nothing in it. Is this a common problem and something that can be addressed by the Dev team?

Hey James,

This little bug should be fixed by now. Are you still having trouble with the assignments?

I have had similar, but not exactly the same, problems as others have stated in this thread. When I import grades using the Treasure of Tarus tool from Google Classroom, the program incorrectly labels some students as having turned in their assignments late or having no score. Google Classroom shows that the student had indeed turn in their assignment on time and has a score, yet ToT states that they didn't. I tried closing the assignment in Google Classroom and the Chrome browser, and restarting both to no avail.

Also, this is not the first time it has happened, and it has become a serious problem as students become frustrated with loosing points or taking damage. I will stop giving damage for late assignments using ToT for the foreseeable future. I hope I can still rely on the program to correctly import scores from Google Classroom. Has anyone else had similar problems and have a fix? Thanks, PJ.
