Multiple Pathways on Quests

I am teaching a unit on The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens, and I am in the process of writing a quest for them on the habits.  Their job is to guide a fictional character through life events to help them learn and apply the 7 Habits.  I would love to give them a "Choose Your Own Adventure" style quest, where they can make mistakes and have opportunities to correct them based on their chosen path.  I feel like this dynamic approach would be more interesting for the students instead of a linear approach.

Has anyone experimented with using multiple pathways on quests?  I'm going to try it out myself and see if it works, but am looking for tips/suggestions if anyone else has done it yet.  Thanks!

I have set up a "CYOA" style class for my computer animation.  I am still developing it.  The students are able to pursue what they are interested in and it gives them freedom to choose while allowing them to switch tasks if they need a break from what they are working on.  The tasks are probably not useful for the 7 Habits, but here is an example of how I am doing the choice based questing.

I would really love to see the quest when you finish it. Sorry I can't help answer your question.

It sounds like a really good idea, but what might work is to make the quest into a "web", with the center being the start of the quest, branches outward to each of the 7 habits, and then connections between the habits. For instance, to connect habit 1 "Be Proactive" with habit 2 "Keep the end in mind" you could have an exercise where the students come up with an end goal and then develop daily steps that they can use to achieve it. I'm envisioning the shape of a Trivial Pursuit board, a web or wheel with multiple connections and links.

Let us know how it goes!

I have!  I wrote a quest that ended in the same place, but it was set up as a choose your own adventure type of thing.  It was actually the first quest I created and the students really dug it!

I ended in the same place because the quest ends in one place every time and I was telling a story using the students names and characters.  It was a lot of fun to do, but I needed to make sure I had multiple story lines that corresponded to each other,.

Phil, can you share a link to your quest? I would be interested in seeing it. Thanks.
