Tier 2 & 3 intervention
Tier 1 intervention helps lay out the expectations you have for all the students in your district or school, depending on their grade level. Because these behaviors are shared by all your students, we call this universal intervention. But what happens when a group of students or a specific student needs a bit more of a push?
This is where Tier 2 & 3 interventions come into play. Where Tier 1 is universal, Tier 2 interventions are targeting specific groups of students and Tier 3 intervention are targeting individual students.

Creating a Tier 2 behavior
Before you even start creating behaviors, make sure that there are tags for the groups of students you want to assign behaviors to. This can vary from school to school, district to district, but tags are required to use Tier 2 interventions.
Learn more about student tags here.
Now that your tags are set up, you can get to creating Tier 2 behaviors:
- Click on Tiers 2 & 3 in your sidebar navigation
- Click the purple Add behavior button
- Decide if you want to create a Positive or Negative behavior
- Enter a description and select a goal (optional) and priority
- Click on the Tier 2 - Targeted prevention field to select tags
When you’re done, click Save in the lower right corner to add your behavior to the list. If you want to create another behavior after this one, click Save and create new.
Note: A single behavior can be assigned to tags and to specific students, thus being both Tier 2 and Tier 3 at the same time.
Creating a Tier 3 behavior
Tier 3 behaviors are attributed to specific students in your roster. To create a Tier 3 behavior:
- Click on Tiers 2 & 3 in your sidebar navigation
- Click the purple Add behavior button
- Decide if you want to create a Positive or Negative behavior
- Enter a description and select a goal (optional) and priority
- Click on the Select students button
This brings up the student list, search and select all the students you want to assign the behavior to. When you’re ready, click the purple Apply button to close the student list.
When you’re done setting up this behavior, click Save in the lower right corner to add your behavior to the list. If you want to create another behavior after this one, click Save and create new.
Note: A single behavior can be assigned to tags and to specific students, thus being both Tier 2 and Tier 3 at the same time.

To assign a Tier 3 behavior, click the Assign Tier 3 behavior button in this section. You can either Choose an existing behavior from your Tier 2 & 3 list or Add a new behavior.
