Activity Center overview
You can access the Activity Center one of two ways:
- Click Activity in the top navigation of your home page
- Directly go to app.classcraft.com/teacher/activity (you can bookmark this link!)
The Activity Center looks like this:
1. Class list
You can view to-dos and notifications for all of your classes at once (using All) or for individual classes by clicking on its name in the list.
2. New
The purple circle indicates that there are new to-dos and notifications in a class or new notifications.
3. Notification settings
You can edit what Classcraft communicates notifications for and how in the notification settings.
4. To-dos
To-dos are a special kind of notifications that require you to do something like approve a student's progress in a quest or deal with lost Hearts.
5. Notifications
Notifications inform you of things that happen in class while you're away. For notifications, you don't have to do anything specific so in most case, clicking on one will just mark it as read.
6. Actions
Click on Jump to to quickly go from one section to the next. In the notifications, you can filter them to view only one type or mark all your notifications as read.
7. Section name
There are various types of to-dos (Quest progress, delayed damage, pledges, parent requests, and kudos). Click on an arrow beside the section name to hide or show it.
8. To-do
Click on a to-do to directly go to the section where you can deal with it.
9. Locked to-do
Certain to-dos need to be completed in the order they occurrent. Grayed out to-dos can't currently be dealt with.
10. More options (...)
Depending on the type of to-do, you may have different options such as marking a pledge as complete or canceling damage.
To-dos
The to-dos inform you of anything in Classcraft that requires your attention. To remove a to-do, complete the specific action tied to it (such as deciding if a student successfully completed a Quest objective or not).
Use the Jump to button in the upper right corner to go to a specific section and collapse the others.
There are five types of to-dos: Quest progress, delayed damage, pledges, parent requests, and kudos.
Quest progress
In this section, you can see the progress made by your students on Quests where your input is required. Self-paced objectives will only appear in your to-dos because they don't require you to decide whether your student's progress is satisfactory or not.
Clicking on a Quest progress to-do takes you to the objective’s Overview tab in the Quests Progress Center so you can evaluate your students’ progress.
Delayed damage
This is your version of the delayed damage queue, where loss of Hearts are sent. All damage for a single team is grouped together and must be dealt with from the oldest to the newest for each team. Select how you would handle the damage and then move down the list.
Students who are not assigned to a team are considered as part of the same team, found at the bottom of the list. Just like any other delayed damage, you must deal with damage to your unassigned students in order of occurrence.
To cancel damage, click on the More options (...) button for any entry and select Cancel damage.
Learn more about Hearts and delayed damage here.
Pledges
This is a list of all the pledges waiting to be fulfilled. When a student fulfills their pledge, click the More options (...) button to select icon and select Mark Off.
Parent requests
When a parent creates an account using their parent code, approve them so they can view their child’s account. Click a parent request to-do to view the parent approval interface and complete the process.
Kudos
Kudos have to be approved and published because they're visible on the Class Wall. Check your to-dos to see if there are any kudos awaiting your approval. Click on the entry to reach your inbox and start approving kudos!
Notifications
Unlike to-dos, notifications don’t require you to do anything. They inform you about what your students and their parents are doing in Classcraft. As notifications are purely informational, clicking on them will generally mark them as read, with the following exceptions:
- Message or discussion notifications take you to the conversation
- Quest objective or assignment notifications take you to the Quest Progress Center
All notifications are displayed in order from the newest to the oldest. A read notification becomes light gray and automatically disappears after 24 hours.
You can filter notifications to view only those about levels, assignments, discussions, or messages.
If you want to dismiss all notifications, click Mark all as read in the upper right corner.
Notification settings
You can decide how much information you receive and how. Proceed to your Activity Center and click Notification Settings in the lower left corner. The broad categories of settings are:
- Communication: messages and class discussions
- User management: joining a class, archiving characters, etc.
- Quest progress
- Game mechanics: leveling up, falling, etc.
- Powers: learning, using powers, etc.
You can enable or disable notifications for a single notification type or whole categories by clicking Toggle all.
You can choose to receive notifications through the Activity Center or your browser. Certain notifications can also be sent directly to your email.
You can also decide whether you want to receive weekly emails about your students’ performance or not.
Viewing the Activity Center on the class dashboard
You can see a class's to-dos and notifications from the class dashboard. The journal () icon brings up your game feed, where you can see everything that happened in your class. You can also find the game feed in the Analytics section.
Click on the clipboard () icon to view your to-dos or the bell (
) icon to view your notifications. Click on any to-do to complete it or on any notification to mark it as read.
