Completing your initial setup

When you first log in to your School Dashboard, we’ll walk you through your initial setup. This setup will be different if:

  • Some teachers at your school are already playing Classcraft
  • No teacher at your school is playing Classcraft

Pre-Step: Importing teachers and students

Before you log in, your partnership manager will generate a list of teachers and students already playing Classcraft at your school. Start by reviewing this list, which contains the following information for each teacher:

  • Name
  • Status (playing or onboarding)
  • Email
  • Number of classes
  • Number of students

Make sure that all the teachers on the list are teaching at your school and click on the green “Import” button to continue. If some teachers should be removed or added from the list, contact your partnership manager for assistance.

  • Teachers

Select the students you want to import and click on the green “Import” button to continue.

You must complete this step before moving on to the next phase of your initial setup.

Step 1: Set up school presets

Note: If you want, you can skip this step and complete it later.

Creating your settings during your initial setup will enable teachers to use harmonized settings across your school. Once you create presets, they can be imported by your teachers whenever they create a class. You can learn more about class settings here.

To begin, select your school level and your focus (General, PBIS, or Social Emotional Learning). Click on “View Presets” if you want to see the presets for any given focus.

Select a starting point and click on “Mark as Complete” to add this preset to your list. You may add more than one presets list this way. After completing your initial setup, you’ll be able to edit all these presets to match your school’s needs and values.

Step 2: Add students

Note: If you want, you can skip this step and complete it later.

To add students, you can upload a CSV or XLSX file or add them manually. You can learn more about adding students here.

Once you’ve added all the students that will be playing Classcraft, click on “Mark as Complete” to finish this step. You can still add students after marking this step as completed or finishing your initial setup.

Step 3: Add teachers

Note: If you want, you can skip this step and complete it later.

To add teachers, you can upload a CSV or XLSX file or add them manually. You can learn more about adding teachers here.

Once you added all the teachers that will be playing Classcraft, click on “Mark as Complete” to finish this step. You can still add teachers after marking this step as completed or finishing your initial setup.

Completing steps from your School Dashboard

If you exit the tutorial or skip to the School Dashboard, you can still complete steps you missed by clicking on their icon in the “Initial Setup” part of the School Overview tab:

Final step: Inviting teachers

Until you’re ready to roll out Classcraft, your teachers will have limited access. Teachers who previously played Classcraft will still be able to play with their students but won’t be able to create new classes or add students. New teachers will be able to create their account and explore their dashboard, but not start playing.

Once you’re satisfied with your setup, click on the “Send Invitations” button in your School Dashboard overview to send an email to all of the teachers who will be playing Classcraft and unlock features for them.

After inviting your teachers, you’ll have access to your complete School Dashboard and engagement data. You’ll nonetheless have to wait 30 days to view your School Climate and Engagement Indexes. Click here to understand why.
