Integrating Google Classroom assignments
When setting up your lesson objectives in Quests, you can pull assignments directly from Google Classroom into tasks.
In your quest, click the green "+" button in the navigation bar above the map, then click on the map to place a new objective and open the Objective Creation screen. The first step is to enter an objective name and select an objective type: Google Classroom Assignment in this case. Then click "Next" in the bottom right.
Note: If your Classcraft and Google Classroom accounts are not linked, clicking on the “Google Classroom Assignment” button will open a new window where you can sign in to Google Classroom.
Adding a Google Classroom objective to your quest
Google Classroom objectives are similar to the "Task" option and include the story, task, assignment (only available after selecting a Google assignment as the task), discussions, and progress settings options.
Instead of entering a task description under Task, select the appropriate Google class and Google Classroom assignment via the dropdown menus:
You can check that you’re linking to the correct task by clicking on the () icon, which will take you to this assignment in Google Classroom. Using an existing assignment will also use its title and description for your quest task.
Otherwise, you may choose to create a new assignment that will be added to your Google Classroom. When doing so, provide a title for your new assignment before clicking “Next.”
You can add a description to a task created this way through the objective settings.
Under the Assignment section, you can enter a student reward of XP and/or GP as well as set a due date. You can also enable an early hand-in due date and reward.
If you allow Discussions in Classcraft, students will be able to post comments about the objective within Classcraft, which will not sync with Google Classroom.
As with regular Tasks, you can add an objective reward (XP and/or GP) that students earn when they’ve completed the objective, as well as enable Self-Paced Progress for students.
Following students' progress in the Quests Progress Center
You can use the Quests Progress Center as you normally would to view and manage student progress. The difference with Google Classroom assignments is that you can view your assignment in Google Classroom or view your Google Drive by clicking on the “...” button beside “Apply to All Students.”
Similarly, you can click the "Google Classroom" button across a student's name to view their assignment page in Google Classroom or the "Drive" button to view their Google Drive files.
If your students can't access your Google assignment, check out "Why can't my students access my Google Classroom assignment in Quests?"
Editing your Google Classroom objectives settings
To edit Google Classroom settings, select your objective on your quest map to open the Progress Center. First, you’ll see the name of the Google Classroom assignment:
Click on “Edit” to open this assignment in Google Classroom in another tab. Click on “Refresh” to update the quest objective with the latest information from Google Classroom.
You can change the Google Classroom and assignment settings for any Google Classroom objective you create. To do so, go to the objectives settings and look for “Google Classroom”:
Just as when you created the objective, you can select a different class and assignment or create a new Google Classroom assignment for this objective:
Once you’ve made your decision, click the “Confirm” button.
