Student overview analytics [Beta]

To enable you to better understand a students' data (including how they earn Experience Points, lose Hearts and use the goals you created) and compare it to their grade, there's now a new section to the Students profile in the student list.
To access the student overview:
- Click Students on your dashboard
- Select a student on the list
Use the Profile, Tiers 2 & 3, and Character tabs to view more information about this student.
The student overview
When you first open a student profile from your list, you'll see their overview, which provides important information about your student's overall performance. It'll look something like this:
Here are its main components:
1. Student character
2. Student name
3. Student grade
You can compare the student's data to their grade's average.
4. Intervention tier
5. Character class and level
6. Student school
7. Selected period
Click on the different chips to check different time periods. This also affects the Compare to past feature.
8. Behavior trend
The percentage of flagged behaviors that were positive.
- 80% positive behaviors or more is great
- 50% to 79% positive behaviors is okay
- Less than 50% positive behaviors is low
9. Comparison
Comparison between the current and previous period trend.
10. Tiered intervention information
This section is not visible if this student is a Tier 1 student.
11. Experience Points trend
This shows the Experience Points students earned during the selected period.
Below the overview, you'll find four different widgets: Experience Points, Hearts, Goals, and Positive-to-negative behavior ratio.
Experience Points
Students earn Experience Points for their positive behavior in class (or even anywhere in school if you use the Student Boost feature) and for some activities in class.
On this widget, you can find the following information:
- Experience Points earned by the student during the selected period
- Experience Points earned during the previous period
- Most frequent Experience Points records
Click on this widget to access the detailed view.
Hearts
Students can lose Hearts when they misbehave in class or during some class activities.
On this widget, you can find the following information:
- Hearts lost by the student during the period
- Hearts lost during the previous period
- Most frequent Hearts records
Click on the widget to access the detailed view.
Goal-based behaviors
These behaviors assigned to goals set by your school or district have been highlighted by teachers and staff during the period.
On this widget, you can find the following information:
- Number of positive behaviors assigned to goals highlighted during the current period
- Number of negative behaviors assigned to goals highlighted during the current period
- Number of positive behaviors assigned to goals highlighted during the previous period
- Number of negative behaviors assigned to goals highlighted during the previous period
Positive-to-negative behavior ratio
It's suggested that the majority of highlighted behaviors are positive. Here, you can find information on the number of positive behaviors versus the number of negative behaviors.
On this widget, you can find:
- Simplified ratio brought to the smallest values possible (i.e. if a student has 200 positive behaviors and 40 negative behaviors, this ratio will be 5:1)
- Total number of positive behaviors for the period
- Total number of negative behaviors for the period
The detailed view
Currently, there are only two widgets with detailed views: Experience Points and Hearts. To access the detailed view, click the widget on the student overview.
As they both function the same way, let's look at the main components of the Experience Points detailed view:
1. Select a period
You can choose from the last 7 days, the last 4 weeks, the last 12 weeks and the last 6 months.
2. Filters
Use various filters to see only the data you need. Learn more about filters here.
3. Graph
View the number of Experience Points earned for different time frames in the selected period.
- If you choose to compare to past, the past is displayed in a lighter purple
- If you choose to compare to the student's grade, the grade average is displayed in lighter purple
4. Total Experience Points
The total number of Experience Points earned by this student during the period and comparison to the grade average. If you enable the comparison to past or previous period in the filters, you can see that total in lighter purple.
5. Events list
Each line represents one way to earn Experience Points or behaviors and provides the following information:
- Number of occurrences
- Type (for behaviors) including Tier 2, Tier 3, and Custom
- Description (when available)
- Category such as Behaviors, Class Tools, etc.
- Experience Points value
Click on any of these headers to sort the list.
6. Occurrences list
Click on the arrow to view the full list of occurrences for any given event. In the occurrence list, you can see the following information:
- Date and time
- Experience Points value
- Who was responsible for giving Experience Points
- In which class this occurred (if any)
Click on the arrows or page numbers to view more occurrences.
Filters
The filters enable you to view only the data that you need to see. Click on the Filter buttons to select the options that work best for you:
- Display data for: Select All or any staff or teacher on the list
- Comparison: Decide if you want to compare this student's data to the previous period, their grade average, or not compare at all
- Include weekends: By default weekends (Saturday and Sunday) are excluded but you can enable them
- Filter by category: You can decide to view data only for behaviors, Class Tools, Quests, or Powers, or any combination
Click Apply filter to update the page or Reset all filters to return to the default view.
